Albion Theatre began performing at the University of Worcester in 2001 in answer to a desire by students and practicioners to produce what might loosely be termed, ‘political theatre’ from many countries and eras. This theatre of dissent does not rest upon the integrity of its message alone, however true or worthy - all theatre must dynamically engage with its audience. The work of Albion, therefore, is driven by the need to celebrate the voice of dissent in all its complexity and humanity and show how its voice is also ours.

The company evolved out of an early production of David Mamet’s play about sexual politics, “Sexual Perversity in Chicago’, in 1998.
