What do I need to do to achieve the Worcester Award?

Worcester Bronze Award

 

Work experience
(minimum 40 hours)
Can include paid employment and mandatory university placements (e.g. school placements)

+

Personal development activities
(minimum 20 hours)
Can include: unpaid employment/volunteering; clubs and societies; being a course rep; extra courses; etc.

+

One employability activity
One of the following:

  • Careers workshop
  • Employability based-session within your course
Please note: study skills/wellbeing workshops and careers appointments do not count towards this. See myCareer for Careers workshops.

 


Worcester Silver Award

Work experience
(minimum 80 hours)
See above - the hours for Bronze are included in the hours for Silver

Personal development activities 
(minimum 40 hours) 
See above - the hours for Bronze are included in the hours for Silver

+

Three employability activities
A Silver Award workshop, plus two of the following:

  • Careers workshop
  • Employability based-session within your course
See above - the activity for Bronze is included in the activity for Silver
 
Please note: if you want to achieve Bronze or Silver, you will need to have completed your myCareer activity record by 17th April 2021.

CV pathway
The CV pathway will guide you through planning your CV and deciding what to include and how to structure it for maximum impact.

5-minute Worcester Award presentation & panel interview
The title of the presentation is:
‘How will your experiences of doing the Worcester Award and the activities related to it help you stand out from the crowd?’
The interview will immediately following the presentation

Please note: if you want to achieve Gold, you will need to have completed your Silver Award by 12th February 2021.

Completion of Gold Award

Taking place in April

Please note: you will need to have achieved the Gold Award and submitted your Platinum Award application through myCareer by 28th January 2022 if you want to be eligible for Platinum.
