Emotional Wellbeing

It is not unusual for students to be managing difficult and/or complex personal lives while studying.

While it is not a requirement for you to disclose this information, it can be helpful to ensure that you are supported whilst at university.  There are lots of different types of support available.

Settling in

Adapting to a new environment can be challenging and it is not unusual to feel homesick, but support is available. There are also activities at the University that can help you make the most of your time here; find out more about making the most of university.

Personal Relationships

Meeting new people and forming new friendships is a positive part of university.  However, sometimes you may experience conflicts or negative relationships that you need support with. Support is available through the Student Support & Wellbeing service.

Bullying and Harassment

If you feel that negative relationships have reached the point of bullying or harassment, you may consider taking some further action to challenge the behaviour. Support, advice and guidance can be found on the Bullying and Harrassment page.

Mental Health Support
For students who experience mental health conditions or a change in their mental health during their time studying, the Counselling & Mental Health Service can provide support;  there are also workshops available throughout the year on topics such as Managing Anxiety, Procrastination, Perfectionism and Exam & Assessment Stress. You can see the availability and book a place on the workshops page.

If your financial situation is causing you stress and anxiety, the Money Advice Service can provide advice and guidance with budgeting and managing your money.
