Print and Digitisation
For basic office work and short runs, the University has an extensive fleet of over 70 high quality Multi Function Devices (MFDs) for all of your print, copy and scanning needs. These are located on all campuses, usually near computer labs.
Staff can also use the Webprint Service to submit jobs away from campus, or through mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, by browsing to the University of Worcester staff homepage and selecting the Staff Webprint option in the applications column.
Once you have submitted print jobs to the University Print queue, they can be released at any MFD on any campus site. The type of printer is displayed on signage next to most MFDs.
Staff receive an unlimited credit allocation for print and copy. However, this service is monitored closely and exceptionally high usage transactions will be investigated. The concept of unlimited credit is regularly reviewed and if abused, fixed credit allocations will be reinstated.
You will need to log in to a MFD in order to release your print job, either on the device itself or on a black touchscreen terminal next to it. The easiest way to do this is to swipe your staff card, otherwise you can type in your staff network credentials which you use to log in into your PC or laptop with, on the terminal's touch screen keyboard. If you can’t use your staff card to log in, log a job on the IT self-service portal with your username, staff number and staff card issue number, and this will be set up for you. Normally this will be covered during your staff induction.
Some service offices such as Finance or Registry Student Records have their own print devices with their own dedicated print queues. Normally these will be setup as part of your Staff Induction, however should this not be the case, please log a request on the IT self-service portal for connection to any additional print queues such as these.
A small number of staff desktop printers remain in service in some departments. Although no longer purchased, the IT Service will still support some of these devices depending on their age/condition/support contract etc. If you are having a problem with, or require connection to a HP desktop printer, please log a job on the IT self-service portal.
For larger jobs and specialist works, our production print staff can produce a wide range of high quality, high volume, and specialist print services such as booklets, posters, binding, laminating, business stationary, and much more, with a prompt 3-day turnaround time. To find out more and to submit a job, please visit the University of Worcester Staff Homepage and select Production Print Service portal from the applications list. Please plan ahead and be resourceful. You should always try to submit works over 300 pages to Production Print Services rather than producing them on MFDs, as they are better suited for small office jobs. In return, you’ll get a much higher quality print on individually selected paper, whilst being more sustainable, and ensuring that you aren’t holding up MFD use for other staff!
Please feel free to visit us in person to discuss your individual needs. We are located in the Bredon Building on St Johns Campus, room BB 063, follow the signs for Production Print Services.
