What is the Reach tablet trial?

The University is investigating ways to develop the use of interactive technologies in the classroom in recognition of the diverse ways that students learn. We are also aware that there is a significant link between a student’s ownership of books and their success whilst at university.

The Reach tablet trial aims to build a strong evidence base that will help the University of Worcester make decisions about how we support students most effectively to succeed and reach their full potential both academically and socially.

The University has identified cohorts of students who we will trial provisional a device which will ensure uniform access to technology across all students in those cohorts. The devices are configured to offer students simple and easy access to a range of interactive technologies including the Student Portal, Library Login, VLE etc.

In addition, students on these cohorts will receive the core texts related to their study as ebooks. These will be available through the Kortext platform:

What is the ebook scheme?

  1. The scheme is run in partnership with the company Kortext Look out for emails from Kortext sent to your University of Worcester email account. These emails will provide a step-by-step guide on how to access your allocated ebooks and update you on new books added to your account. Look for the emails and follow the instructions.
  2. Once enrolled on your modules and you receive an email from Kortext as described above, access your personal eTextbooks by logging into our Kortext account.
  3. You can read your books online or download them to up to five devices.
