The day of your ceremony

The day of your ceremony

Academic robes and tickets should be collected from Riverside. Studio Photography is also available here prior to your ceremony. The photography studios are very popular and there are likely to be queues - please note that there will also be studios available in the Arena on your return from the Cathedral.

You and your guests are invited to take a shuttle coach from Riverside to the Cathedral

 Take your seat

Your Cathedral seat number will be shown on your ticket. It is important that you take your seat well in advance of your ceremony beginning in order that we can confirm who is present, and also to make sure you are sitting in the correct order. Staff will be on hand to help you find your seat.

 The Ceremony

During the ceremony staff will ask you to get out of your seat in preparation for your name being called. Once your name is read out you will walk onto the stage, shaking hands with the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor or Pro Vice Chancellor, then exit the stage via a short ramp where you will collect your certificate before returning around the Cathedral to your seat.

Leaving the Cathedral

Academics and staff begin the procession out of the Cathedral, which graduates are asked to join. Once outside, coaches will be available to transport you and your guests back to Riverside.

Post ceremony reception

All graduates and guests are invited to the post ceremony reception held in the University Arena.  Here you can have a celebratory drink, enjoy a hot buffet (please pre-order on SOLE) and meet with friends and tutors.  You will also find the photo of yourself on stage here.
