Volume 9

The Student Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Conference 2018 was held at Plymouth Marjon University in May 2018. This was the 2nd student conference in sports therapy and rehabilitation the first being held in May 2016. The aim of the conference was to showcase student research in the areas of sports therapy and rehabilitation and in that respect the programme was designed to recognise the distinctiveness of the two areas. The communications represented research around the themes of sport therapy and sport rehabilitation with a kaleidoscope of research across both themes. The conference attracted a total of 24 abstracts from undergraduate and postgraduate students across the UK with oral and poster communications during the day. 75 delegates attended the conference including academic staff, undergraduate and postgraduate sport therapists and rehabilitators. The keynote speaker, Prof Kathy Myburgh, travelled from Stellenbosch University in South Africa to present her work on the physiology of injury and rehabilitation and provided an engaging and stimulating open address. The conference was rounded off with another fascinating after dinner speaker, Sammy Giles, who talked about her career as the leading female English amateur golfer and her first year as a professional on the LPGA.
