Project Management
What We Do
Project Managers have the responsibility for the management, supervision and delivery of all new buildings and major refurbishment projects on campus. Estates provide a full service from initial briefing and concept design, through to planning and building regulation applications, tendering of construction works and supervision of projects through their construction phase.
The Department is supported by a framework of external consultants.
The University has undertaken significant development and refurbishment of buildings on campus in recent years and this planned programme of investment in both buildings (refurbishment and new build) and infrastructure will continue through to 2019 and beyond.
Our Project Management team aim to deliver space that caters for all needs and aspire to create space which works close at hand with the University's commitment to teaching. We ensure that all of our buildings visually enhance the campus and contribute to a great student experience whilst promoting the principles of our sustainability strategy to be efficient whilst operational.
During 2018 we completed over 40 projects
These projects were completed whilst majority of halls of residence were occupied by external guests over our busy summer period.
The Art House
One of the projects developed over this period was The Art House.
This involved restoring and refurbishing a Grade II Listed building in Worcester's Castle Street into a top class art facility for our students. It also provides further public exhibition space.
The University has sympathetically restored the building, including its iconic clock tower, which can be seen across the City and is beautifully lit at night. The interior has been transformed into high quality creative art and exhibition working, teaching and learning space. Its large open plan spaces allow plenty of space for creative thought and activity.
The building was officially opened in February 2019 by HRH the Duke of Gloucester, who is the University's Chancellor.
