Support with study skills

Support with study skills

Study skills support can be accessed via the study skills website: www.worcester.ac.uk/studyskills. The site has a wide range of study skills resources including MP3 downloads, short films and advice sheets. Study skills advice sheets are also available from the Peirson Study and Guidance Cenre. These cover a range of topics including "Taking notes", "Organising yourself" and "Exams and revision".

In addition, ILS offer 1:1 sessions for students requiring support with Blackboard, Pebblepad and other VLEs (Virtual Learning Environments), referencing and using on-line resources - email askalibrarian@worc.ac.uk for details.

The University also produces a number of useful student study guides such as “A guide to university assessment for first year students” and “Citing and Referencing Guide: Harvard.” Copies are available from the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre.

Module Tutors. Module Tutors may offer some support with specific pieces of work that they have set. Be aware, however, that unlike school or college, the time that they have available to give 1:1 support is limited. Find out what their office hours are and make an appointment. Don’t expect to be seen immediately. Make sure that if you are going to speak to a tutor that you have a clear idea of what you want to discuss with them and that you have made some attempt at the work e.g. produced a plan. Generally speaking though, many tutors will only comment on assessed work. This is done via feedback.
