External surveys
Managed by external organisations and used to provide key data for Discover Uni, TEF, etc., these surveys allow us to compare how we are doing with other institutions and to implement changes that will improve the student experience.
National Student Survey (NSS)
This survey is run by the Office for Students and is for all final year undergraduate students on BA/BSc and Foundation degrees. Accessed via www.thestudentsurvey.com, the NSS asks students about their overall course experience, with questions on teaching, assessment, personal development, resources and organisation and management.
The survey is usually open between January and April each year, with an internal University launch in February. Results are made available in July.
Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES)
This survey is managed by AdvanceHE and is directed at all postgraduate students on Taught Masters and PGCE courses. It contains questions on the overall course experience including teaching, assessment, engagement, and support.
The survey is open from February to June each year, with Schools nominating completion periods within this time. Results are made available in July and August.
Graduate Outcomes Survey
Managed by the Careers and Employability Service, this survey is sent to students 15 months after graduation and asks about employment, further study and also includes questions on wellbeing.
Accessed via https://www.graduateoutcomes.ac.uk/, students will be invited to complete by the survey provider.
