Referencing

Academic writing requires accurate referencing; it is important to show the source of your ideas to avoid being accused of plagiarism.

The referencing style for your subject will be identified by your course team in subject handbooks and module outlines. For most undergraduate subjects this will be Harvard (Cite them Right) but courses such as Psychology, Law, Creative Arts and some medical subjects, may be different. If you are undertaking a joint honours degree, you will need to check the refencing style for each subject. You can find more information in section 6 of the University of Worcester Assessment Policy.

You might find it useful to look at the librarian’s handy guide to work out which style you need to use. If you need further guidance, our helpful librarians are available for one-to one, online support and you can book an appointment with a specialist in your subject area.
