Placement

Many courses have placements associated with them. Some courses such as those in Education, Health or Sport have mandatory placements, the outcomes of which will determine whether you are successful on the course.

Placement support for courses from the School of Nursing and Midwifery and School of Allied Health and Community is provided by our Placement Support Team (PLAST).  They are there to plan and record your placements and offer advice, they also provide assistance to the placement providers. Students are supported in practice by mentors, NHS practice facilitators, and by the University’s Practice Development Team.

Current students can contact PLAST at plast@worc.ac.uk and more information can be found on the placement support webpages.

The University of Worcester College of Health & Sciences also offers a Compliments and Concerns webpage, allowing you to provide positive feedback or to raise a concern regarding your experience on placement.

Worcester Business School courses may offer a “sandwich year”, combining work experience with study, visit Business work placements for more details.

Students on other placements should contact their course teams to discuss requirements, what’s involved and the contribution of the placement to the course.

Benefits of undertaking a placement include increasing employability and preparing for the work environment, building on skills such as time management, communication or working with others.

If you have a placement, you might need a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, for further information on this please visit firstpoint's DBS guidance webpage.
