The University of Worcester uses the Higher Education Role Analysis (HERA) system to evaluate and grade posts.

HERA is a system for analysing the different aspects or elements of roles which people undertake in the higher education sector. The University uses HERA to evaluate many different types of roles – academic, administrative, maintenance, management, professional and technical.

HERA evaluates roles using a questionnaire which contains 14 elements and 50 questions. Each element is scored and the total point score is calculated for each role. The Equal Opportunities Commission recognised HERA as a non-discriminatory job evaluation system.
