Mentors

It is recommended that new employees be assigned a mentor i.e. an existing employee who will provide advice and guidance during, at least, the initial probationary period. Everyone new to a post will be allocated a mentor by their line manager in order to help them settle quickly and happily into their role. The line manager should assign a mentor (ideally before the new employee starts) from the bank of trained mentors.

An up-to-date list of trained mentors is available here.

The HR Department can give managers guidance on choosing an appropriate mentor. Please see the University Mentoring Handbook for further information.
