Please see below for some Frequently asked questions that HR regularly receive from members of staff at the University.

What is a Totum Card?

As a student or staff member at the University of Worcester, you’re eligible for the Totum card, the UK’s number 1 student discount card. With top brands including the likes of Pizza Express, ASOS, the Co-op and many more, there promises to be a whole host of worthwhile offers available to you.

Staff members, simply use your @worc.ac.uk email address when registering for your Totum card.

When do timesheets need to be submitted?

 Timesheets need to be completed by the 10th of each month and handed to your ASUs (Academic Support Units), ASUs will then sign these off and send them over to payroll.

Electronic timesheets will be found on your staff pages (Login and click 'Timesheet claim form'). Submit your hours through this timesheet by the 10th of each month and your Line Manager will approve the hours in order to be paid on the 28th of each month.

Where can I access the Staff Directory?

 The Staff Directory is used to provide staff with email addresses, departments and phone numbers they may require to contact another member of staff within the University.

Therefore, it is important that you update your details at the earliest opportunity so other staff are able to find you easily.

What is the Display Screen Equipment (DSE) process?

 The Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessment is a requirement to determine whether an individual meets the standards that are set out by the Health & Safety Executive.

What childcare services are available?

The University has a fee-paying nursery ‘Unitots’ which is available to staff and students. It caters for children from 3 months to 5 years of age and is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays.

Where can I park and how do I get a parking permit?

 Car parking facilities are available on St Johns Campus, City Campus, The Art House and Severn Campus.

Parking for the City Campus and the Jenny Lind Building is also available at The Moor car park, close to Worcester Racecourse and the Swan Theatre.

Where can I eat?

There are many locations that have catering facilities at the University of Worcester.

At St Johns Campus, there is the Made Food Court and Elgar Café in the Edward Elgar Building. There is also The Hangar in the Students' Union and the Students' Union Shop if you are looking to grab a quick lunch.


At the City Campus, there is the City Café in the Charles Hastings Building. As well as the Worcester City Centre itself, which has a great variety of Café's and restaurants, etc.

Many departments have access to kitchen facilities for making drinks and storing food. Ask your line manager for guidance about these facilities.

What annual leave am I entitled to?

There are usually 11 fixed days of holiday during the year.

The Annual Leave year runs from 1st September in any one year, to 31st August of the following year.

All leave must be booked and agreed in advance, using the appropriate recording method within your department.

How do I access my email and O:Drive from home?

'Webmail' allows staff to access their Outlook email and calendar at home on any device you may have.

To do this, you will need to open up a browser, navigate to the University homepage and click on the 'Staff Portal' icon located at the top right of the screen. Under the 'Applications' column on the left hand side, select 'Webmail'. 

You will be presented with the Outlook Web App log in screen. Enter your staff username and password.
